Get Grounded!!

An ideal way to start your day on the right footing is is to get yourself grounded! This morning I woke up and I was so happy it was a Sunday. “Hooray now I can catch up on myself. Do what I want!” Then all the thoughts came tumbling into my head…”I could do this,…or maybe that…but REALLY I should be doing that. But I don’t want to do that. “But you should!!” pipes up the inner critic.  Sunday was starting to feel less ‘hoorayish’ as my brain was having its’ way.

Then the solution hit me, a simple 5 minute grounding to get myself off on the right foot.  I simply focused on my feet….how they felt in my slippers….whether my toes felt like wriggling or just sitting there at the end of my feet….and my heels….could I feel all of them or just an outline?  Could my heels feel the slippers? Could they feel the worn patch where the sheepskin had rubbed away……and what did that feel like? Cold……..smooth……..shiny…….flat…………were my arches feeling the slippers…was it woolly or smooth below them?

I put my timer on for 5 minutes and it went off before I knew it. The clatter in my head had gone and the ‘hooray’ was back!
